Keeping your construction project on schedule
Construction projects, like most dental practices, are run by a schedule. While unexpected events, e.g., supply chain issues, can't be planned for, there is a lot you and your contractor can do to help keep a schedule on track:
Have a clear idea of what you want and need out of your space
When the ultimate goal for your space is known, both you and your contractor can create a plan that will suit your needs from the beginning. Making major changes to the project, especially after construction begins, can not only be costly but cause setbacks in the schedule.
Work with a contractor who has expertise in your type of project
All construction work is not the same. A contractor who has worked on medical practices before will have a better idea of how to build a schedule so all the work gets done on time.
Don't put off selecting the finishes, furnishings, equipment, etc.:
Sometimes it's the small decisions that can not only be the hardest to make but also bring construction work on a project to a stop. Whenever possible, make these decisions early. Don't put them off or delay them.
Above all, having frequent and open communication with your contractor is essential. It will not only help you know where things stand with the schedule but keep you apprised of the milestones being accomplished during your project.
